HiBi09 - High Performance Computational Systems Biology

Event Date and Time:
14/10/2009 (All day) - 16/10/2009 (All day)

Trento (Italy)

Modelling of biological systems is a heterogeneous discipline which has been attracting the effort of a fast growing part of the research community. One of the main limitations in managing models of biological systems comes for the fundamental difference between the high parallelism expressed by the biochemical reactions within cells and the sequential environments employed for the analysis of these reactions. Such limitation is cross-method, namely it affects both continuous/deterministic and discrete/stochastic models, undermining the applicability of simulation techniques, and, in fact, of any method for the analysis of a biological model. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers in the field of high performance computing as well as experts in computational systems biology. It is meant to establish a forum for researchers from around the world to present their current work, to discuss profound challenges, new ideas, results, applications and experience on key aspects of high performance computing in biology.
